Identify relevant journals on your topic

Scopus and Web of Science are citation databases that can be very useful for finding journals that have previously published articles in your topic area.

Choose just one of the databases below for instructions for this activity.

Web of Science

  1. Go to Web of Science
  2. Search for your topic
  3. In the results screen use Analyse Results (left hand side)
    • select rank by source titles
    • select minimum record count threshold of at least 2
    • write down one or two journal titles with the highest number of articles in your topic area
  4. Also note down what categories these journals are in. You will use these categories later in this module.

Scopus

  1. Go to Scopus
  2. Search for your topic
  3. In the results, look at the Source titles (left hand side)
  4. Write down one or two titles with the highest number of articles in your topic area.
